How to Convert Images to Anime Style for Free Without Complex Photo Editing Software

Converting images to anime style has never been easier thanks to the advent of online tools and AI-powered solutions. In this post, we will explore how you can convert your images to anime style for free without needing any photo editing software.

We will use a popular online tool, which you can access for free. You can also follow this guide to convert your own images effortlessly.

To convert your images to anime style, we will:

Upload Your Image to the Selected Tool

For this tutorial, we are going to use https://pictureeditorai.com, an AI-based automatic photo editing software that requires minimal configuration.

Step 1: Create an account on https://pictureeditorai.com. After you have navigated to the tool, you should see a sign up button on the top right corner. Press that button and login with Google to create an account.

Step 2: Find an image you want to convert to anime style in your file system. Either drag and drop this into the image dropzone or click on the dropzone and find it in your file system. For this example we are going to use an image of Taylor Swift.

Configure Anime Style Settings

Step 3: This tools provides a couple of different settings when it comes to converting images to anime style. To view the settings you can configure, click the "Open Advanced Settings" button:

Step 4: Now it's time to configure the advanced settings. Before we do this, make sure you have anime style selected as the edit mode. With the anime style feature, we first need to choose which model we want to use. Currently we support the following models: aam_xl. The properties for each model and their description are listed below

  • aam_xl
  • width: Width of the output image in pixels
  • height: Height of the output image in pixels
  • num_outputs: Number of images to output
  • num_inference_steps: Number of denoising steps. Higher numbers generally result in higher fidelity results relative to the prompt but tweaking this to lower values can lead to better outcomes.
  • prompt: The input prompt for what style you want to generate.
  • strength: How heavily you want to weigh the source image when generating your new image.
  • scheduler: Different algorithms that are used for image denoising. Some schedulers may work better than others depending on the image.
  • guidance_scale: How heavily you want to weigh the prompt when generating your new image.
  • negative_prompt: A prompt for things you want to avoid in your final image (i.e., deformities)
  • Step 5: Its now time for us to choose our values. For this demo, we are going to choose the aam_xl model and the following parameters:

  • width: 1024
  • height: 1024
  • prompt: anime
  • strength: 0.5
  • scheduler: K_EULER_ANCESTRAL
  • num_outputs: 1
  • guidance_scale: 8
  • negative_prompt:
  • num_inference_steps: 20
  • Our settings should look something like as follows:

Convert to Anime Style and Save the Image

Step 6: To convert the image to anime style, we can now just press the "Edit Image" button. This process may take a few minutes.

Step 7: To save the image, you can simply right click the image and press "Save Image As...". The result of the anime style is shown below:
